Planning & Zoning Department
Planning
The City of Medical Lake Planning Department strives to promote a welcoming community by guiding the development of the built environment. We plan under the direction of the Washington State Growth Management Act, RCW 36.70A. This act, first adopted in 1990, requires cities to develop a comprehensive plan to manage their population growth.Â
The Comprehensive Plan is carried out in many ways, including development regulations which are part of the Medical Lake Municipal Code. The Planning Department is responsible for updating the Comprehensive Plan, updating development regulations, processing land use reviews, and reviewing building permits.
